#1 - Who Is Jesus?
"For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." - John 3:17
Back in Genesis, we see that God created us to have a relationship with him. Many theologians believe that he created the world and us in it, not because he needed to, but because he wanted to create people to share his love with. But, he knew that love without a choice isn't really love at all, so he gave us a choice to choose a relationship with him or not.
Unfortunately, many of us throughout history initially chose to go through life on our own, choosing not to have a relationship with him, choosing our ways over his. Our sin created an immeasurable distance between us. He is a perfect God and heaven is a perfect place, so in order to spend eternity with him there, the standard is perfection. I don't know about you, but I've made countless mistakes in my life, and there is no amount of good that I can do to magically make me perfect. But, it was in our helplessness and hopelessness that God, because of his great love for us, made a way for us back to him.
By sending Jesus into the world to live the perfect life that we never could and die the death that we deserved, he stared death in the face and paid the price, once and for all, so that we could forever be with God… if that's what we want. You see, God paid the price for all of us, but he leaves it to us to accept that gift of grace, simply by saying, "Jesus, I invite you to be my savior." He won't make you choose him, he won't make you love him, but he does love and choose you and wants to forever coat you in his love and grace.
If you would like to know more about Jesus, if you want to know his love and be covered in his peace, I would love to talk with you more.
"God made us for himself, and our hearts will forever be restless until they find rest in him." - St. Augustine
